Hi everyone,
Ok well Emma wrote her idea earlier, here's whats on my mind.
A person throws cards into a hat to see his life. Start with him throwing a few cards and getting same old average numbers. Show a version of his journey to work and give idea of a dull boring life. Second time we go back to his he throws a joker. Spice up his journey a bit more this time. End however with his death. Third card he throws, Queen of hearts, Love. You get the idea i hope. End finally with a few short seconds of him deciding not to throw card for the day because "He makes his own destiny"
This idea takes strong influence from "Groundhog Day" and "Sliding door" in it's use of repitition of a day. The three versions will be of same day and follow a repeat of certain key shots featuring different actions but same framing.
If there is any doubt to how it will fit to five minutes here is my model for time scale
45 second intro. Inc titles
1 minute first play through of day
20 second interim to next card
1 minute second play through of day
20 sec interim to next card
1 minutes third play through of day
15 second outro
10 second titles
The piece will feature narration and the interims mentioned above will be still single shots. In a dark room where we will experiment with lighting for creepy unworldly effect. During repitition of day we'll feature obvious digetic sounds with strong none digetic sound to create mood.
It is undecided yet but am thinking maybe no dialogue during days bar naration from inbetween scenes.
That's my idea, hope you like it.

i really like this idea, but think throwing cards into a hat seems a bit irrelevant. maybe something like a fortune teller using tarot cards would be more effective?
ReplyDeleteinteresting, could work. =)
